Summary
La inflación del mes de diciembre del año 2007, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue del 1,3%, menor a la tasa del 2,7% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado, la inflación del año asciende al 6%, ubicándose dentro del rango referencial de inflación de mediano y largo plazo del 5% (+/- 2,5%), y por debajo del 12,5% verificado en el año 2006.
Por su parte, la inflación subyacente -aquella que excluye los aumentos de precios de los rubros volátiles de la canasta- se ubicó en un nivel inferior al de la inflación total mensual (en torno al 0,4%). Así, la inflación del año 2007, medido por este indicador, ascendió al 7,7%, por encima del 7% observado en el año 2006, con lo cual continúa aún la tendencia ascendente de la inflación subyacente, aunque a un menor ritmo de crecimiento comparado con los resultados mensuales anteriormente registrados.
Abstract
Inflation for December 2007, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 1.3%, lower than the 2.7% rate observed in the same month last year. With this result, inflation for the year rose to 6%, within the medium- and long-term inflation benchmark of 5% (+/- 2.5%), and below the 12.5% recorded in 2006. Meanwhile, core inflation—which excludes price increases in volatile items in the basket—was lower than the monthly headline inflation rate (around 0.4%). Thus, inflation in 2007, as measured by this indicator, rose to 7.7%, above the 7% observed in 2006. This continues the upward trend in underlying inflation, albeit at a slower pace compared to the monthly results previously recorded.
