Summary
La inflación del mes de agosto del año 2008, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue del 0,6%, inferior a la tasa del 3,4% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado, la inflación acumulada en el año asciende al 6,5%, ubicándose por encima del 2,3% registrado en el mismo período durante el año anterior.
Por otro lado, la inflación interanual fue del 10,4%, inferior al 13,4% verificado en julio del 2008, y también levemente inferior al 10,9% registrado en agosto del año 2007. Por su parte, la inflación subyacente -aquella que excluye los rubros volátiles de la canasta- se ubicó en un nivel superior al de la inflación total mensual (en 0,8%). Así, la inflación interanual al mes de agosto de 2008, medido por este indicador, ascendió al 11,6%, inferior al 12,8% verificado en el mes de julio de 2008, pero mayor al 5,1% observado en el mes de agosto del año anterior.
Abstract
Inflation in August 2009, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 1%, higher than the 0.6% rate observed in the same month last year. With this result, cumulative inflation for the year stands at 0.7%, below the 6.5% observed during the same period in 2008. Year-on-year inflation, meanwhile, was 1.6%, higher than the 1.1% observed in July of this year, but lower than the 10.4% rate recorded in August 2008. Furthermore, it is noted that core inflation (an indicator that excludes volatile items in the basket) was lower than the total monthly inflation rate (0.3%). Thus, year-on-year inflation, measured by this indicator, reached a rate of 0.7%, below the 1.1% rate for July of this year, and also lower than the 11.6% rate recorded in August of last year.
