Summary
La inflación del mes de mayo del año 2017, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue del 0,3%, inferior a la tasa del 0,5% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado, la inflación acumulada en el año asciende al 2,2%, por debajo del 2,7% verificado en el mismo periodo del año anterior. La inflación interanual, por su parte, fue del 3,4%, resultado menor al 3,6% observado en el mes de abril del corriente año, y también inferior a la tasa del 3,5% registrada en el mes de mayo del año pasado.
Por otro lado, se señala que la inflación núcleo1 se situó en un nivel similar al de la inflación total mensual (en 0,3%). Así, la inflación interanual medida por este indicador, alcanzó una tasa del 3,4%, superior a la tasa del 3,3% correspondiente al mes de abril del corriente año, pero menor a la tasa del 3,5% verificada en el mes de mayo del año 2016.
Abstract
Inflation for May 2017, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 0.3%, lower than the 0.5% rate observed in the same month last year. With this result, cumulative inflation for the year reached 2.2%, below the 2.7% observed in the same period last year. Year-on-year inflation, meanwhile, was 3.4%, lower than the 3.6% observed in April of this year and also lower than the 3.5% rate recorded in May of last year.
Furthermore, it is noted that core inflation1 was at a similar level to monthly headline inflation (0.3%). Thus, year-on-year inflation, as measured by this indicator, reached a rate of 3.4%, higher than the 3.3% rate for April of this year, but lower than the 3.5% rate recorded in May 2016.
