Summary
La inflación del mes de mayo del año 2016, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue del 0,5%, inferior a la tasa del 1,5% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado, la inflación acumulada en el año asciende al 2,7%, por encima del 2,4% verificado en el mismo periodo del año anterior. La inflación interanual, por su parte, fue del 3,5%, resultado menor al 4,5% observado en el mes de abril del corriente año, pero superior a la tasa del 3,3% registrada en el mes de mayo del año pasado.
Por otro lado, se señala que la inflación núcleo1 se situó en un nivel inferior al de la inflación total mensual (en 0,2%). Así, la inflación interanual medida por este indicador, alcanzó una tasa del 3,5%, inferior a la tasa del 4% correspondiente al mes de abril del corriente año, pero por encima de la tasa del 2,6% verificada en el mes de mayo del año 2015.
Abstract
Inflation for May 2016, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 0.5%, lower than the 1.5% rate observed in the same month last year. With this result, cumulative inflation for the year reached 2.7%, above the 2.4% observed in the same period last year. Year-on-year inflation, meanwhile, was 3.5%, lower than the 4.5% observed in April of this year, but higher than the 3.3% rate recorded in May of last year.
Furthermore, it is noted that core inflation1 was lower than total monthly inflation (at 0.2%). Thus, year-on-year inflation, as measured by this indicator, reached a rate of 3.5%, lower than the 4% rate for April of this year, but higher than the 2.6% rate recorded in May 2015.
