Summary
La inflación del mes de diciembre del año 2004, medida por la variación del Índice
de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue del 1,6%, mayor a la tasa del 0,9% observada en el
mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado la inflación del año 2004 asciende a un
2,8%, muy inferior a la tasa del 9,3% observada en el año 2003, y uno de los cierres de
inflación más bajos desde el año 1970. Cabe destacar que este nivel de inflación, además
de continuar en el rango de inflaciones de un dígito, es un resultado que esta por debajo
de las estimaciones de inicios de año establecida en un 8,5% (± 1,5%) dentro del marco
del Acuerdo Stand By con el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI).
Abstract
Inflation for December 2004, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 1.6%, higher than the 0.9% rate observed in the same month the previous year. This result brought inflation for 2004 to 2.8%, much lower than the 9.3% rate observed in 2003 and one of the lowest inflation rates since 1970. It should be noted that this inflation level, in addition to remaining within the single-digit range, is below the early-year estimates of 8.5% (± 1.5%) established within the framework of the Stand-By Arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
