Resumen ejecutivo : periodo 2003 y segundo trimestre de 2006

Abstract

This report presents the most relevant aspects of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Paraguay, covering the period 2005 and the second quarter of 2006, and compares them with those observed in similar periods in 2005. It should be noted that the figures for flows and stocks (balances) for 2005 and the first quarter of 2006, published in the previous report, differ due to an increase in the number of respondents. At the time of writing this report, the data coverage percentage for the second quarter of 2006 reached 71.7%, using equity as an estimator. The number of companies considered in this report is 137, of which 122 are non-financial companies and 15 are financial entities and insurance companies (banks and insurance companies). It is important to note that during 2005, seven FDI companies have withdrawn from the reporting company directory. Of these, one merged with another FDI company, and the others have either ceased operations or have been acquired by residents of the economy.
