| dc.description | La inflación del mes de diciembre del año 2008, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue del 0,6%, inferior a la tasa del 1,3% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado, la inflación en el presente año se ubica en un 7,5%, resultado mayor al 6% observado en el año 2007, pero dentro del rango referencial de inflación de mediano y largo plazo del 5% con un rango de tolerancia de +/- 2,5%, por segundo año consecutivo.
Por otro lado, se señala que la inflación subyacente (indicador que excluye los rubros volátiles de la canasta) se sitúo en un nivel inferior al de la inflación total mensual (en -0,6%). Así, la inflación del año 2008, medido por este indicador, alcanzó una tasa del 6,9%, resultado menor a la tasa del 7,7% correspondiente al año 2007, y también en línea con la meta referencial de inflación de mediano y largo plazo. Este resultado consolida además la tendencia descendente verificada por este indicador a partir del segundo semestre del año 2008. |
| dc.description.abstract | Inflation for December 2008, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 0.6%, lower than the 1.3% rate observed in the same month last year. With this result, inflation this year stands at 7.5%, higher than the 6% observed in 2007, but within the reference range for medium- and long-term inflation of 5%, with a tolerance of +/- 2.5%, for the second consecutive year.
On the other hand, it is noted that core inflation (an indicator that excludes volatile items in the basket) was lower than the total monthly inflation rate (-0.6%). Thus, inflation in 2008, as measured by this indicator, reached a rate of 6.9%, lower than the 7.7% rate for 2007 and also in line with the medium- and long-term inflation target. This result also consolidates the downward trend observed by this indicator since the second half of 2008. |
