Evolución del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC): en agosto de 2013

dc.descriptionLa inflación del mes de agosto del 2013, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), alcanzó una tasa del 0,6%, mayor a la tasa del -0,2% observada en el mismo mes del año 2012. Con este resultado, la inflación acumulada en el año asciende al 1,8%, por debajo de la tasa del 2,7% registrada durante el mismo periodo en el año anterior. La inflación interanual, por su parte, fue del 3,1%, resultado mayor a la tasa del 2,2% verificada en el mes de julio del corriente año, y también por encima de la tasa del 2,8% registrada en el mes de agosto del año pasado. Por otro lado, se señala que la inflación subyacente (indicador que excluye los rubros volátiles de la canasta) se sitúo en un nivel inferior al de la inflación total mensual (en 0,2%). Así, la inflación interanual medida por este indicador, alcanzó una tasa de 2,7%, resultado similar a la tasa correspondiente al mes de julio del corriente año, pero superior a la tasa del 2,5% verificada en el mes de agosto del año 2012.
dc.description.abstractInflation for August 2013, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), reached a rate of 0.6%, higher than the -0.2% rate observed in the same month in 2012. With this result, cumulative inflation for the year reached 1.8%, below the 2.7% rate recorded during the same period last year. Year-on-year inflation, meanwhile, was 3.1%, higher than the 2.2% rate recorded in July of this year and also above the 2.8% rate recorded in August of last year. On the other hand, it is noted that core inflation (an indicator that excludes volatile items in the basket) was lower than the total monthly inflation rate (0.2%). Thus, year-on-year inflation, as measured by this indicator, reached a rate of 2.7%, similar to the rate for July of this year, but higher than the 2.5% rate recorded in August 2012.
