dc.descriptionLa inflación del mes de agosto del año 2004, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue 1,5%, mayor a la tasa del -0,2% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Cabe destacar que este resultado inflacionario está fundamentalmente concentrado en bienes de carácter volátil asociados a productos perecederos de la canasta, totalmente ajenos a los lineamientos de la política monetaria y al comportamiento del tipo de cambio. Por lo tanto, la inflación del mes responde básicamente a un shock de oferta originado en el sector real de la economía, y cuya implicancia incidió fuertemente en el alza de los precios de productos hortícolas comercializados dentro del mercado doméstico.
dc.description.abstractInflation for August 2004, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 1.5%, higher than the -0.2% rate observed in the same month the previous year. It should be noted that this inflationary result is primarily concentrated in volatile goods associated with perishable products, which are completely unrelated to monetary policy guidelines and the exchange rate. Therefore, the month's inflation is primarily due to a supply shock originating in the real sector of the economy, the impact of which strongly influenced the rise in prices of horticultural products sold in the domestic market.
