Evolución del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC): en setiembre de 2008

dc.descriptionLa inflación del mes de setiembre del año 2008, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue del -0,3%, inferior a la tasa del 0,9% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado, la inflación acumulada en el año se reduce al 6,2%, aunque continua ubicándose por encima del 3,2% registrado en el mismo período durante el año anterior. La inflación interanual, por su parte, fue del 9,1%, menor al 10,4% verificado en agosto del 2008, y también inferior al 10,1% registrado en setiembre del año 2007. Por otro lado, la inflación subyacente -aquella que excluye los rubros volátiles de la canasta- se ubicó en un nivel superior al de la inflación total mensual (en 0,1%). Así, la inflación interanual al mes de setiembre de 2008, medido por este indicador, fue del 10,3%, inferior al 11,6% verificado en el mes de agosto de 2008, pero mayor al 5,8% observado en el mes de setiembre del año anterior.
dc.description.abstractInflation for September 2008, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was -0.3%, lower than the 0.9% rate observed in the same month last year. With this result, cumulative inflation for the year fell to 6.2%, although it remains above the 3.2% recorded in the same period last year. Year-on-year inflation, meanwhile, was 9.1%, lower than the 10.4% recorded in August 2008 and also lower than the 10.1% recorded in September 2007. On the other hand, core inflation—which excludes volatile items in the basket—was higher than total monthly inflation (by 0.1%). Thus, year-on-year inflation in September 2008, as measured by this indicator, was 10.3%, lower than the 11.6% recorded in August 2008, but higher than the 5.8% recorded in September of the previous year.
