Evolución del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC): en mayo de 2013

dc.descriptionLa inflación del mes de mayo del año 2013, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), alcanzó un -0,3%, menor a la tasa del 0,4% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado, la inflación acumulada en el año asciende al 0,2%, por debajo del 3,2% verificado durante el mismo periodo en el año anterior. La inflación interanual, por su parte, fue del 0,9%, resultado menor al 1,6% observado en el mes de abril del corriente año, y por debajo de la tasa del 3,8% registrada en el mes de mayo del año pasado. Por otro lado, se señala que la inflación subyacente (indicador que excluye los rubros volátiles de la canasta) se sitúo en un nivel superior al de la inflación total mensual (en 0,2%). Así, la inflación interanual medida por este indicador, alcanzó una tasa de 1,7%, resultado levemente mayor a la tasa del 1,6% correspondiente al mes de abril del corriente año e inferior a la tasa del 2,8% verificada en el mes de mayo del año anterior.
dc.description.abstractInflation for May 2013, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), reached -0.3%, lower than the 0.4% rate observed in the same month last year. With this result, cumulative inflation for the year reached 0.2%, below the 3.2% observed during the same period last year. Year-on-year inflation, meanwhile, was 0.9%, lower than the 1.6% observed in April of this year and below the 3.8% rate recorded in May of last year. On the other hand, core inflation (an indicator that excludes volatile items in the basket) was higher than total monthly inflation (at 0.2%). Thus, year-on-year inflation, measured by this indicator, reached a rate of 1.7%, slightly higher than the 1.6% rate for April of this year and lower than the 2.8% rate recorded in May of last year.
