Evolución del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC): en mayo de 2009

dc.descriptionLa inflación del mes de mayo del año 2009, medida por la variación del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC), fue del 0%, superior a la tasa del -0,2% observada en el mismo mes del año anterior. Con este resultado, la inflación acumulada en el año se mantiene en -0,9%, por debajo del 4,2% verificado durante el mismo periodo en el año anterior. La inflación interanual, por su parte, fue del 2,2%, resultado levemente mayor al 2% observado en el mes de abril del corriente año, pero menor a la tasa del 11,3% registrado en el mes de mayo del año 2008. Por otro lado, se señala que la inflación subyacente (indicador que excluye los rubros volátiles de la canasta) se sitúo en un nivel inferior al de la inflación total mensual (en -0,1%). Así, la inflación interanual medido por este indicador, alcanzó una tasa del 1,7%, por debajo de la tasa del 2,6% correspondiente al mes de abril del corriente año, y también inferior a la tasa del 12,6% verificado en el mes de mayo del año pasado.
dc.description.abstractInflation for May 2009, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 0%, higher than the -0.2% rate observed in the same month last year. With this result, cumulative inflation for the year remains at -0.9%, below the 4.2% recorded during the same period last year. Year-on-year inflation, meanwhile, was 2.2%, slightly higher than the 2% observed in April of this year, but lower than the 11.3% rate recorded in May 2008. Furthermore, core inflation (an indicator that excludes volatile items in the basket) was lower than the total monthly inflation rate (-0.1%). Thus, year-on-year inflation, as measured by this indicator, reached a rate of 1.7%, below the 2.6% rate for April of this year and also lower than the 12.6% rate recorded in May of last year.
